Although my gym membership has, figuratively speaking, began to collect dust as of late…I’ve decided that this summer is going to be the summer of the tank.
This being said, it’s very very difficult for me to justify spending just as much, if not more on an article of clothing with so little fabric! I know, I know…it’s the same thing with shorts and it takes just as much work and yadda yadda yadda—but still, it’s a thing of mine. How do you girls do it?? I’ve broken down and purchased a few tanks, but then I had a brilliant idea.
I think we can all agree that the days of the hum-drum graphic tee are behind us, and whether we like to admit it or not we’ve all got a pretty hefty stack taking up valuable closet space. In addition to these in the moment purchases, if you’re a 20-something on a retail budget who likes a properly fitted, colorful (TIGHT ‘N BRIGHT) shirt, then you’ve fallen prey to the H&M basic tees. While attractive to the untrained eye, one wash will send the already dangerously short sleeves skyrocketing towards capped princess style, making it incredibly uncomfortable for everyday wear and impossible to regulate once you’ve had a few drinks, resulting in many an awkward photo.
So, what to do with excess unwearable/undesirable sleeved shirts and a need for tanks…
Time to pick up those scissors boys!
You’d be surprised what new life can be breathed into tired old shirts when you get crafty with a pair of scissors. There are bound to be some flubs and some ‘unsavables’ but overall, it’s proved to be an economical way to start my summer.
